Matteo Guendouzi, a former France international and current captain of Olympique Lyonnais, has been named as the new head coach of Marseille.
The appointment comes after the club struggled with poor performances under previous manager Rudi Garcia, who was sacked earlier this month.
Guendouzi will take over from Garcia and lead Marseille into their upcoming season, which begins on August 11th.
In his first interview as Marseille's head coach, Guendouzi spoke about the challenges he faces in the French league.
He said that it is "a big challenge" to manage such a successful team like Marseille, but he is excited to get started.
"I'm very happy to be here,Serie A Stadium" Guendouzi said. "I have a lot of respect for Marseille and its history, so I'm looking forward to getting started."
As well as managing the team, Guendouzi also plans to work closely with Marseille's technical staff, including their goalkeeping coach Jean-Francois Riviere and head of youth development Pierre-Henry Chambolle.
He added that he is committed to helping the club achieve success both on and off the pitch.
"We need to improve our performance, both defensively and offensively, and we need to continue to develop young talent," Guendouzi said. "We're all working together to make sure we do everything possible to help Marseille achieve its goals."
